How to choose a tutor for your child?

Match the person to the actual problem. If it is a specific gap, you need someone who assesses before teaching. If it is confidence, you need someone your child is not frightened of. If it is exam technique, you need someone who has worked against that board’s mark scheme. Sit in on the trial, then ask your child one question afterwards: did you understand more at the end than at the start? Their answer tells you more than any credential does.
