Is one hour of tutoring enough?

One hour a week is enough to keep a child ahead in a single subject, and it is where most families here start. It is not enough on its own to close a large gap quickly — that usually takes two a week for a term, then back down to one. What makes the hour work is the twenty to thirty minutes of work done between classes. An hour a week with nothing in between moves very slowly, whatever the tutor does in it.
