Is AI replacing math tutors?

Not yet, and not in the way it is usually claimed. AI is genuinely good at explaining a method, generating practice questions and marking them, and I encourage students to use it for exactly that. What it does not do is notice that a child has gone quiet because they are embarrassed, work out that the real trouble with quadratics is a Grade 7 gap in what a letter stands for, or hold a fourteen-year-old to a habit across eight months. That is most of the job.
